Cycle 1000km across Sri Lanka to rebuild communities through arts (Aal Project)

Synopsis

From 06 – 26 February 2016, seven cyclist representing Ondru from New Zealand and Australia will cycle 1000km across Sri Lanka from Mirissa to Jaffna to raise $50,000 in funds to develop the project. This pilot project will focus on rebuilding and strengthening communities and will be driven by the local communities to inspire positive change.

What are we trying to achieve?

Empowering communities in Sri Lanka affected by war, violence and displacement through community based art projects that bring people together to inspire and nurture a more positive vision of the future.

What have we done so far?

Across 2013 and 2014, we have been working with many local communities, conducted lectures and workshops at the Eastern University, and consulted with the National Peace Council, many educators, artists, healers, nurturers, carers, professionals and people from many walks of life to develop the project.

Corners 4 Kids 2016

The Corners 4 Kids Motorcycle Rally (C4K) was founded in 2000 with the aim of giving like-minded motorcyclists the opportunity to set aside the pressures of the office for a few days, go for a great ride and most importantly, raise much needed funds for charities that support children in need.

Since the very first rally this event has raised more than $700,000 for children’s charities supporting those who may not be as fortunate as most young Australians.

Over the years there have been some amazing outcomes in many children’s lives resulting from the work we do.

All riders pay all there own expenses during the rally with every cent raised going to the charities. It is all for the kids, so begin fundraising by selecting one of the children’s charities below.

Next step: Sign Up and start fundraising by choosing one of the below children’s charities to support.

There are great prizes for the teams and individuals who raise the most, who will have bragging rights as well as taking home the coveted ‘Walk for Justice Cup’. The University Shield is also up for grabs so the pride of Adelaide’s three tertiary institutions is on the line…

Run Disney Fundraising

So in 2016 I will be participating in a number of races and would love for people to sponsor me to raise money for RSPCA WA.

The races I am doing are:

– The following Disneyland Star Wars races: http://www.rundisney.com/star-wars-half-marathon/

5km (3.1 miles) 15th January
10km (6.2 miles) 16th January
21 km (13.1 miles) 17th January

– The following Disneyworld Dark Side races http://www.rundisney.com/star-wars-wdw-half-marathon/
10 km (6.2 miles) 16th April
21 km (13.1 miles) 17th April

Over the two events that will be a total of 67 km (41.7 miles) (in case you want to sponsor me per mile or per km)

I have set up a page for Australian donations to RSPCA WA and also in the US to donate to Save the Children.

The largest individual donation to either charity can choose what I wear as an outfit for one of the above 5 races. This will most likely be the 10 km race on the 16th April.

I will include the caveat that the outfit has to be family friendly, it is Disney after all 🙂 . The Disney rules for outfits can be found at the links above. If you win or are interested in donating for it I can send you the exact outfit restrictions 🙂 .…
